Wattle Bird Cabinet

This piece is inspired by the patterns and shapes of a Wattle Bird’s feathers folding into each other.

The design is graphic and bold, made by cutting into a piece of black film-face ply wood with a CNC router to reveal the underlying hoop pine layers. The pine is stained with Osmo furniture polish in a range of different colours to contrast with the black surface.

The legs, like knobbly bird’s legs, each slightly different, are turned on a lathe and stained.

The Wattle Bird cabinets are designed so patterns can be mixed up. The legs can easily be taken off, the individual cabinets turned upside down, the patterns mirrored.

These cabinets can be made in dimensions to suit your requirements. They can be individual or in groups of two, three or four. From a bed-side table to a large interlocking sideboard covering a wall.
